Bob Giddens
The advantage of designing the web site is that you get to write your own biography. My name's Bob Giddens, my father was an Canadian ice hockey player and journalist and my mother was from England. I grew up there and moved to Germany about 20 years ago. I've been in the bicycle business for the last 7 years and can't imagine doing anything else. I love talking to Asia about parts and I love the trends and fashions belonging the industry. I made a living for a long time in the music business and the bicycle business is as close as you will ever come to the music business.

I've been doing marketing and product management the last couple of years and it was always my dream to have a brand. The idea for USED came as I was looking for a new band name. I had just read Michael Moore's "Stupid White Men" and it inspired me to start thinking about the problems we have. We no longer take a stand against the powers that control us. We are silent. Look at the Irak war. We have to be aware and we have to care and we have to be loud about it!

I started making music because of the punk movement, where anyone could be a star, now days anyone is a star, at least for 15 minutes like Andy Warhol anticipated.

I like the idea of rebellion, I like the idea of commerce under rebellion and I like the idea of cool products that people use. Don't leave it in the garage or on the shelf, use it and make it USED!

And now I present to you - Mr. Klaus Schroeder! ScooterBike developer and it's most fanatical rider. Do not call him, unless you want to talk for 45 minutes about what's wrong with bikes today and why you should be riding a ScooterBike! This guy is the man behind ScooterBike. He has had his own bike store for about 19 years, most of that time has been spent selling recumbents. His store Veloladen, is famous across borders for being the place to get the bike that you need. Together with Ortwin Kuerten (Hi Otte!) he's been doing more for this type of bike than anyone in Germany.

His job at USED is to make the ScooterBike the flag ship of the USED-Movement. He's looking at ways to electrify the ScooterBike, to fold the ScooterBike and to somehow get Gerhard Schroeder (The German Chancellor even has the same name!) on a ScooterBike. And as a best ager he's going in the right direction (Gerhard, not Klaus!).

If you want to know anything or suggest anything, just give Klaus a mail and he will take it as far as possible, or give you a damn good reason why not!
